Ms. Alice Esther McQueen was born on December 14, 1949, in Horry County, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Oliver and Allean (Floyd) McQueen. She peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina
Alice being a native of Horry County, moved to Columbia, SC and attended C. A. Johnson High School. After completing her education and graduating High School, Alice continued her educational journey at Mansfield Business College.
Alice's professional journey was marked by her love for people. Alice worked for the William Jennings Bryan Dorn Veteran Hospital for over 25 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was an avid seamstress and loved to complete puzzles of all kinds. Alice's love for children afforded her the opportunity to share her love and home with several loving children within the community as a Resource Family. Family was the cornerstone of Alice's life.
In addition to her parents, Alice was also preceded in death by her son, Samuel McQueen; three sisters, Edith Bland, Felisha Belton, and Vivian Reed; and two brothers, Marion McQueen, and Ivian McQueen.
Alice leaves to cherish fond and loving memories to her children, Michael (LaShawn) McQueen and Gerald McQueen and; ten grandchildren, Imani McQueen, Cedric McQueen, Nevaeh McQueen, Raven McQueen, Rayechon McQueen, Sierrah Scott, Arteuanna McCallum, Cedasia McQueen, Gerald Snooks, and Mikhia Tucker; two great-grandchildren, Faith McQueen and Bre'ar McCallum; three bonus children, Lafonda Bostic, Jahvar Thomas and, Brion Thomas; one loving and devoted sister, Lillian McQueen Roberts; one brother-in-law, Danny Belton; one sister-in-law, Earnestine McQueen; a very special friend, Orabell Henley as well as a host of other loving relatives and faithful friends all of whom will miss her immensely.
Alice's legacy will forever be imprinted on the hearts and minds of those she touched. Her unending kindness, unwavering integrity, and her love for family will be remembered and cherished. As we continue to honor Alice's life, we will carry her in spirit. We love you, Alice!
