Age 95, of Roseville, Minnesota, passed away on January 15, 2024.

Alice Mosner was born on December 18, 1928, the youngest of 7 children of Helmer and Alma Haug, of Crookston, Minnesota. She grew up on a small farm in a part of northwest Minnesota known as the Red River Valley. Alice went to “country” school for grades 1 and 2 and then completed her schooling through high school in Fisher (a small town near their farm near Crookston). There were 17 students in her graduating class.

After high school she worked in Crookston at Rexall Drug Store before taking a job as a telephone operator. She recalled the big boards that would blink when a call came in, and the operators would say “number please” and connect them with the number they were calling.

Alice had a pair of girlfriends that had previously moved to St. Paul for jobs. They asked her to live with them so she transferred her job to St. Paul with the Northwestern Bell Company. However, having lost seniority, she had to work the night shift and did not like taking the streetcar home at midnight. So she found another job with Raymond Laboratories working as a Biller Typist and Switchboard Operator. While working there, Alice and a co-worker attended a dance at the American House Ballroom in St. Paul where she met Richard Mosner.

Richard and Alice were later married and their wedding dinner was at the Criterion restaurant in St. Paul, a restaurant at which she later waitressed. They were blessed with three children; Cynthia (1950), Jeffrey (1953) and Gregory (1965).

While her family was her priority, Alice was busy outside the home also. Besides waitressing at several nice restaurants in St. Paul, she was also active in the St. Anne Society at St. Bernard’s and St. John’s Church and, after Rich died in 1985, she moved to The Mayfield in Little Canada where she was their resident librarian. Before retiring, she also worked in the St. Paul school lunch program. Through her jobs and volunteer work, Alice made many friends and touched many lives. Alice is remembered for her strong faith in God as a source of strength, her love for her family and many friends and her joy for volunteering.

Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; daughter, Cynthia; parents, Helmer and Alma Haug; brothers, Edwin, Norman and Orville; and sisters, Hazel, Myrtle and Judy.

She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Olga) Mosner, Gregory (Yumei) Mosner; grandchildren, Charles (Zahra) Mosner, Michelle (Sean) Jarvie, Alison Mosner, Kevin Mosner, Angela (Michael) Miller, Amber (Jeremy) Hildeen, Abby Evans and Siwen (Alicia) Liu; many great-grandchildren; former daughter-in-law, Sherry Mosner; son-in-law, Mike Lynch; sister-in-law, Donna Haug; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
