Alice Jane Payne, age 88, passed away peacefully in Medina, Ohio, on October 13, 2025. She was born to Joe and Mary Hurley in Greene County, Tennessee.

Alice married Archie J. Payne, and together they made their home in Medina, where they raised three children.

A devoted member of Grace Baptist Church for more than 50 years, Alice faithfully served as part of the nursery staff. Her faith was the quiet foundation of her life, guiding the way she loved and served others.

More than anything, Alice was happiest when sharing meals and stories that will be remembered for years to come. She enjoyed tending her vegetable garden, canning the fruits of her labor, and cooking for friends and family. Her home was always filled with the comforting aromas of good food and the warmth of her generous heart.

Alice is survived by her children, Mary Jo Payne, Brian (Kathy) Payne, and Donna (Troy) VanLiere; grandchildren Joshua, Patrick (Angela), Tyler, Grace, Kate, and David; and great-granddaughter Lenora. She also leaves behind her sister Geraldine Culberson, brother Sam (Betty) Hurley, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Archie, her parents, and her brothers John and Robert.

Family will receive friends on Friday, October 17th, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm with the Funeral Service immediately following at 12:00 pm in the Waite Funeral Home 765 N Court St., Medina, Ohio 44256. Rev. Dr. Richard Powers, officiating. Alice will be laid to rest with her husband at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

Her love, faith, and kindness will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
