She was a teacher and director at Hobbitts Preschool in Richfield. Working with children was one of her greatest loves and she had a great talent for that. Mary enjoyed reading, sailing (especially at Pymatuming Lake in Pennsylvania), and doing cross stitching. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Richfield.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Graham and her sister, Dorothy Perrin.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Summers, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage; her children, Cynthia (Matthew) Hooper and G. Brian (Jennifer) Summers; and grandchildren, Lindsay Hooper and Grace Summers.
The family will receive friends at Waite Funeral Home – Medina, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 12 – 1 pm, with a Celebration of Mary's life at 1 p.m. Inurnment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery. Mary has been a dear friend for over 40 years. Even after times we were out of touch, she and I were always happy to reconnect and we easily picked up where we left off. Mary and I loved poking into the shops in Medina and having long talks over lunch. Mary and Gary and Mike and I always had fun sharing a New Year´s Eve, anniversary celebration, or simply spending a casual evening together. I will forever remember her sense of humor, her ability to listen deeply, and her warm and loving heart.
