Mrs. Alice Jean Porterfield, age 86, of Richmond, passed away at her daughter's home in Huntington Beach, California.
She was born to Eugene and Alice LaRoche Henry on August 9, 1936 in Princeton, Indiana. On October 6, 1956, she united in marriage to Paul Meredith Porterfield and they were married for 46 years. Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and she loved her great grandchildren very much. She had a great love for God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. She attended Grace Fellowship Church in Lexington, Ky. Alice worked for the University of Kentucky for over twenty-five years until she retired. She enjoyed reading the Bible, playing the organ, growing roses and, most of all, spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include: her daughter: Darla Mae Porterfield of Huntington Beach, CA, her son: Bryan Meredith Porterfield, four grandchildren: Jennifer Dawn of Huntington Beach, CA, Heather Joann (& Reece) Durham of Huntington Beach, CA, Raymond Dean (& Ashley) Wells of Long Beach, CA and Steven Paul Porterfield of Killen, TX and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Porterfield was also preceded in death by her son: Paul Eugene Porterfield and her brother: David Paul Henry.
Visitation services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home in Richmond, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the funeral home. For those unable to attend, a live stream will be available online at www.cpcfh.com.
Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Porterfield, Ray Wells, Josh Guiterrez, Bryce Wells, Brayden Wells, Matt Harris and Ryder Durham.
