Alice Pugh, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on January 23, 2025, in Glen Rose, Texas, at the age of 83. She was born on August 15, 1941, in Brownfield, Texas, to Howard Halbert and Frances Jeanette Weaver Halbert. Alice married Gayland Leo Pugh on June 07, 1958 in Irving, TX . Alice’s kindness and creativity shone brightly throughout her life; she was well known for her passion for quilting and crafts, dedicating herself as a loyal member of the Cleburne Quilt Guild. She was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cleburne.
Alice is survived by her children, Connie Skiles and her husband Kerry of Nemo, TX; Leta Pugh and her husband Clayton of Alvarado, TX; and Gay Lynn Proffitt of Joshua, TX. grandchildren: Jessica Chick and her husband Chase of Arlington, TX; Mitchell Skiles of Nemo, TX; Vanessa Coonrod and her husband Blaze of Glen Rose, TX; and Stephanie Jones and her husband Zach of Edmond, OK.; great-grandchildren, Torren Coonrod and Zade Coonrod.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gayland Pugh; her grandson, Joseph Gayland Skiles; and her twin great-granddaughters, Emily and Allison. The love that Alice shared with her family and friends will forever be remembered, and she leaves behind a profound impact on the lives she touched.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home located at 512 N Ridgeway Dr, Cleburne, TX 76033. A funeral service celebrating her life will take place on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, 700 Woodard, Cleburne, TX 76033. Burial will follow in Squaw Creek Cemetery in Glen Rose.
Alice Pugh will be deeply missed by all who knew her and will always be remembered for her immense love and unwavering spirit.
