Alice Rhoades Obituary
[March 2, 1930 – January 28, 2026]
Alice Marie Rhoades age 95 of Belleville, IL, passed away on January 28, 2026, at St. Paul Senior Community in Belleville, IL.
Alice was born on March 2, 1930, in New Florence, PA to Dempsey and Gertrude (Higgs) Howard. She grew up on a farm during the Great Depression learning the values of hard work. Her education started in a one room school and finished graduating from Ligonier High School in 1948. Four years later she became a mother and held the position to the end.
Alice is survived by four children: James Rhoades, Vincent Rhoades, Howard "Keith" Rhoades (Tina Treakle), and Eric Rhoades (Rachel); two grandchildren: Haley Garcia (Joseph), Landon Rhoades; and three great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Rhoades, siblings Bill Howard, Walter Howard, John Howard, Gertrude Davis, Lillian Rummel and Mary Keffer.
Alice will be remembered for her many quilts she made over the years. She gifted many of those quilts to her family and friends. They will be treasured for many generations.
A private memorial service will be held in Pennsylvania in early spring.
