Marian Delores Rhoades, 92, of Oakland, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026. She was born in Paragould, Arkansas, on September 24, 1933, and lived in Memphis, Tennessee for most of her adult life. Marian was a member of Grimes Memorial Methodist in Memphis and, in her later years, she enjoyed attending Kirk Baptist Church. Marian was a homemaker who enjoyed nothing more than taking care of her family whether it was sewing, cooking, or simply spending time listening to the events of the day. She enjoyed traveling and never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune. A good cup of coffee along with a well-deserved treat made her days enjoyable, but the best part was Facebook. She was known in the family as the “Facebook Queen.”
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, James J. and Dessie Wainscott; husband, James Lloyd Rhoades; son, James Terry Rhoades; daughter, Jacquelyn Laird (Dwight); and brother, Jim Wainscott.
Survivors include her twins, Kerry Ray Rhoades (Debora) and Sherry Gay Eggers (Steve); son, Jeff Rhoades (Robyn); daughter-in-law, Carey Rhoades; sister, Betty Hollis; ten grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 3, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Spurlock officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.
