Alice "Jennie" Virginia White Ross, 78, entered into her eternal rest on Monday, February 23, 2026, at the UK Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington.
Jennie was born in Versailles on Friday, July 4, 1947, to Pauline Marshall White and Robert Lee White Sr. She was the 2nd daughter born into her large family!
Spiritual meaning of Alice: Noble-having or showing fine personal qualities; or a person of noble rank or birth. Exalted-placed at a high or powerful level, held in high regard.
Jennie was esteemed as the "Matriarch" of our family and was often called "Jennie Cake". She was a beautiful woman, tall in stature and generous in heart. She was a wonderful mother and a great Nana, who loved to cook for her children and grandchildren. As many can attest, she made the BEST fudge! She loved to walk and enjoyed playing card games and watching her favorite game shows, The Price Is Right, Let's Make A Deal, and Family Feud. Jennie was always ready to enjoy dining at Red Lobster!
During her sojourn, she was baptized, fellowshipped, and served at First Baptist Church and was employed and retired from Rand McNally.
As a loving mother she will be remembered by her adored daughters, Linda Ross and Angela White, both of Versailles; As Jennie Cake, her Brothers-James White (AZ), Michael White (TX), David (Rene) White (OK), Roger and Colby White of Versailles, Sisters-Helen White (PA), Brenda and Della White of Versailles and Pamela White (PA).
Jennie will be extremely missed by her special aunt, Elizabeth "Ann" Hocker of Lexington.
She was NANA to her grandchildren: Dominic White, Jasmine (Scott) Horchner, Porsha White, Odyssey Burton, Tralen "Trey" LeMaster, and Reagan Way. Great-grandchildren-Zaidyn Ross, Kamyah Burton, Zakyla Armstrong, Sergio Avila Jr, Denalii LeMaster, Zayn Armstrong, Lola LeMaster, Zion Armstrong, Isaac Bays, Zeeke and Zophya Ross. Her fur baby, Mika. In addition, she will be remembered by her cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents-Robert Lee White Sr and Pauline Marshall White; her beloved eldest daughter, Sherlon White; her firstborn granddaughter, Allyson Ross; her great-granddaughter, Zaryah Ross; and her great-grandson, Kyran Avila. Brothers-Robert (Pedro) Lee White Jr. and Paul White. Sisters-Judy Payne, Vickie Smith, and Lisa White. Her precious fur babies, Angel and Gracie.
Although she endured much loss, her strong faith and enduring spirit prevailed!
The family is grateful for her nieces, Nicolle Murray and Whitney White, for their unwavering commitment and generous support. Tambra Richards, we can't thank you enough. Elroi is the God that sees!
Jennie was a wonderful woman with a beautiful smile, she will be deeply missed by her friends and community.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers, acts of kindness, and support during her sickness and death.
The family will honor her life with a private ceremony.
