Mother, Sister, Aunt & Friend

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow we want to share the news of the passing of Alice F. (Jones) (Strykowski) Walsh on April 22, 2025. She entered eternal rest with her loving family by her side.

Alice was born in Lowell on April 16, 1948 to the parents of the late Robert K. and Eileen M. (Higson) Jones. She was the wife of the late Robert “Bob” Walsh for over 20 years until his passing in 2021. Alice was never the same after his death, he was her life and she his, now together forever.

Over the past several years Alice has suffered with Alzheimer’s Disease and COPD. Before her illness she was enjoying her retirement most notable from the parking garage on Warren Street. Most week days you could find Alice sitting in her little booth in her white collared shirt and badge. She was happy to validate your parking ticket and enjoy a chat.

In her earlier years, Alice enjoyed bowling and was a member of several leagues over the years. Some of her favorite past times included going to bingo with family and friends, reading the Lowell Sun and Boston Herald newspapers from cover to cover, including all the ads. She also enjoyed doing word search and scratching lottery tickets.

Alice is survived and will be deeply missed by her daughters, Kelly and Tracey Jones and her loving sisters, Mary Kapala and her partner, Arthur Arsenault and Shelia Hamel and her husband, Steve. Alice was also a grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many who will miss her dearly. She will always be remembered for her contagious smile and loving heart! She also leaves many dear friends.

Alice was predeceased by her brothers, Robert “Bobby” Jones, Jr., Peter Jones and his wife, Patricia “Patty” Kirby, her brother-in-law, Gary Kapala and her niece, Amy Kapala.

Relatives and friends are invited to Alice’s Life Celebration to be held at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 10 until 12 PM. A brief prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held privately.
