Alice E. Timmering, 100, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2025. Born on December 23, 1924, in Olaton, Kentucky, to Roy and Lilly Keith, Alice was the youngest and last surviving of nine children. She was raised in Ohio County, Kentucky, where she graduated from Horse Branch High School.

After High School, Alice visited Louisville, where she met and married the love of her life, Benjamin Timmering. Their love story was one of deep affection and mutual respect, and it was truly love at first sight. After the untimely death of her husband in 1965, Alice became a dedicated single mother, raising their six children—David, Martha, Ben, Sharon, Roy, and Ken—with strength, grace, and devotion.

A member of Mosaic Methodist Church, Alice was known for her quiet faith and deep spirituality, often finding solace in reading the Bible. Despite her shy nature and quiet demeanor, she was a kind, gentle soul who never spoke ill of anyone. Alice's warmth and calmness touched the lives of those who knew her, and her sweetness will be greatly missed.

Alice was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished time spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren, whom she loved deeply. Her home was always filled with the laughter and joy of her loved ones. In her spare time, Alice enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her flower beds, gardening, and reading. Her connection with nature was a source of peace and fulfillment.

She will be remembered as a woman of great strength, gentle spirit, and unwavering love. Her legacy of kindness and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.

Alice E. Timmering leaves behind a legacy of love, peace, and quiet strength that will continue to inspire those who loved her. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Alice is preceded in death by her loving husband, Benjamin Amil Timmering; son, David Timmering; her parents, Roy and Lilly Keith; 1 grandson, Benjamin Timmering; 3 brothers, Bill, Denver, and Jake; and 3 sisters, Carmon, Mary, and Mable.

Left to cherish her memory, Alice is survived by 5 children, Martha Sommerville (Gene), Sharon Timmering, Ben Timmering, Royetta Crawford, and Kenny Timmering (Taniece); 9 grandchildren, Kayla Timmering, Heather Unger (Yancy), Randy Sommerville (Shannon), Alice Ann Timmering, Austin Hunter Timmering, Catlin Timmering (Amiee), Jake Timmering, Shelby Huttig (Aaron), and Jessica Robinson (Michael); 11 great-grandchildren, Kameron Timmering, Jazlyn Timmering, Elizabeth Timmering, Eddie Whittaker, Brandon Sommerville (Jessi), Ryan Sommerville, Ashley Judd (Chris), Isaac Black, Amelia Unger, Mireya Robinson, and Nadiya Robinson; 3 great-great grandchildren, Olive, Runi, and Story; 3 nieces, Ineva, Margret, and Theresa; and a host of extended family and close friends.

A funeral service for Mrs. Alice E. Timmering will be held at 2 PM on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 2 PM at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service. Burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West will follow the service.
