Alice Rebecca Cole Tomlin, of Greenville, SC passed away on January 24, 2026. Born on March 13, 1953, in Anderson, SC. She was the daughter of her late parents Calhoun Cole and Ethel Stevenson Cole.

Alice is survived by her husband (Paul) of 34 years, her sisters Ann and Debra (David), her brothers Roger (Angie) and David (Rikki), along with many nieces and nephews.

Alice was a CMA (certified medical assistant) and worked in many different specialties, primarily internal medicine and pulmonary critical care. She cared greatly about her patients and became friends with many of them.

She really loved the outdoors. She was a whitewater kayaker and canoeist and served as President of the Foothills Canoe Club. She loved the rivers for paddling and the lakes for water skiing and going out on the boat.

She also spent time volunteering to work at Greenville's RiverPlace, (now Artisphere), as well as Fall for Greenville. Alice was always there to help out. Her favorite part was working with the artists and musicians.

Nothing made her happier than working in her gardens, playing in the dirt. She was a Master Gardener, and she loved growing vegetables, especially tomatoes, just as much as growing flowers and planning landscapes.

One of Alice's greatest joys was spending time around animals, especially horses and dogs. Growing up, she always had a dog. She is still remembered as the girl at Anderson College who drove a Willis Jeep with a collie, Ralph, sitting in the passenger seat. The two dogs she had to leave behind, Sadie and Murphy, are missing her tremendously, but they will be together again someday.

She was a loving person and a caring friend to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Thank you so much to everyone who reached out to her the last few months. Bless you all.

A heartfelt thanks to Landrum Hospice House for their kind and special care.

A celebration for Alice Rebecca Tomlin will be held at a later date.
