He is survived by his beloved son, Ian Tomlin (significant other Kahteya Gibbons); his brother, Chris (Lisa) Tomlin; his sister, Nicole Tomlin (significant other James Fricke); as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Patricia Tomlin.
Jason was a graduate of Athens High School in Athens, Illinois. He worked as a hydraulics technician at Caterpillar in Decatur, Illinois, until lifelong medical conditions resulted in his disability.
Jason’s greatest accomplishment and pride in life was his son, Ian. Ian was his world, and Jason loved and adored him beyond measure. He had a passion for rebuilding and painting cars and was especially talented at airbrushing, creating detailed and impressive work.
Jason enjoyed listening to music, drawing, watching races, playing bags, PopDarts, and spending time with his beloved dog, “Buddy Love”. He cherished time spent with his friends and those close to him while drinking a few drinks.
Jason was also proud of his heritage, as his fourth great-grandfather, Abner Hall, whom was one of the founders of the town of Athens.
Visitation for Jason will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.
