Albert McCarthy, Jr. Obituary
Albert McCarthy, age 68, of Sweetwater, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at his residence.
He was born September 12, 1957 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Albert and Nancy (Taylor) McCarthy.
Albert married Marilyn Beavers on April 6, 2006.
Mourning his passing are his wife, Marilyn; children, Jason Benton, Cory McIntyre, Mike McIntyre, Charles Benton, Robbie Benton, Angela Fernandez, and Roberta Benton; numerous grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jeff McCarthy and Leslie McCarthy.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Albert graduated from Lanphier High School in Springfield, Illinois.
He worked as a welder for Onken’s Inc. for many years.
Albert’s favorite hobby was fishing. He also enjoyed riding Harleys and being a mechanic.
Albert was a diehard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
Visitation for Albert will be held from 9:00 AM until time of funeral services at 10:30AM on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, Illinois. Burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
