Alice "Earline" Wence, 77, of Louisville, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital surrounded by family.
Earline was born June 21, 1946 in Sullivan, Indiana to Earl and Eva Imogene Ridgley (Ferguson).
She was a graduate of Sullivan high school and went on to earn an associates degree from Indiana State University.
She belonged to Douglass Hills Church of Christ where she was an involved member.
She was also an active member of Springhurst Tennis Club where she was the captain of her beloved tennis team.
Along with playing tennis, Earline loved bird watching, traveling, spending time with friends and family, decorating for and celebrating every holiday, cheering for the UofL Cards, and supporting her grandchildren through all of their many different endeavors. The meals she cooked for holidays and Sunday family dinners will be greatly missed.
Earline had many different titles throughout her life, but "Nana" was arguably her favorite. Her family meant everything to her and she was the glue that held them together. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Larry; children, Lori Wence (Andy) and Jeffery Wence (Cassie); Grandchildren, Kya Wence Carter (Daniel), Landon Wence, Jacob Herbstreit, and Riley Wence. Earline leaves behind a long list of friends and extended family who will also feel this loss tremendously.
Visitation will take place at Ratterman's Funeral Home in Middletown from 11:00-2:00 on Saturday, February 17, 2024 with funeral to follow. There will be a private family burial at Floydsburg Cemetery on Monday, February 19, 2024.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus Health Louisville.

I played on Earline´s tennis team for many years and always enjoyed her company . She had an even disposition and kind heart. Sad to know that she is gone.

Will never play a tennis match or watch the Cincy tennis tournament without thinking of Earline. She will be greatly missed; however, will always be kept closely in my heart. Terry Bowlds
