Alice Ann Wright, known to most as "Ann", was the sixth of eleven children. She was born October 31,1943 to the late Greensbury and Alice Virigina Bivens. She was called home on November 28,2021.
Alice was born in Princess Anne, Maryland and was educated in the Princess Anne Public School system. She received her GED from Essex County Business School. Alice was the first of her siblings to move to Dover, NJ. In 1967, she relocated to Newark, NJ+. She married Alfa Wright in 1990. She worked numerous jobs including a seamstress, chef/caterer, and ordained missionary. Alice was known for her delicious meals. Alice ran a soup kitchen for over 20 years at her church. Everyone was excited to taste her home cooked meals that could be smelled throughout the entire church. Her passion for cooking was one of the greatest gifts she gave to everyone around her. She was a beautiful soul and was loved by so many.
Alice was a great wife, mother, and grandparent. She practiced tough love, but you knew she cared. Alice was the matriarch of the family. She was the glue that kept the family together. Everyone looked to her for guidance. Alice raised her six kids and a host of others with love and devotion. She was known to "tell it like it is'' and "always spoke her mind". Overall, she was known for being very generous, loving and for her kind spirit. Her positive influence will forever remain in the lives of those who knew her.
Alice's beautiful life will forever be cherished by her brothers: Oscar Lee Bivens of Landing, NJ, Charles Bivens of Princess Anne, MD, and Oliver (Sunny) Heron of Princess Anne, MD; sister: Mary Anna Sanchez of Springfield, MA; children: Joyce Bivens Jones, Sonia Bivens, Alfred Bivens, Theresa Bivens, Lisa Bivens, and Mostefai Shakur; grandchildren: Jarea Bivens, Wayne Bivens, Jaquaah Bivens, Terrance Green, Sarizha Bivens, and Jahson Bivens; great grandchild: Adonis Green; son-in-law: David Jones; sister-in-law: Anna Bivens, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
