Alicia Case Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carmichael Funeral Homes - Marietta on Oct. 29, 2023.
Alicia Mealor Case, 40, of Atlanta, GA, passed away suddenly on October 22, 2023.
Alicia was born in Atlanta to Patricia S. Mealor and George P. Mealor. Alicia treasured fond memories of her time as a camper and later counselor at Camp Toccoa, in the North Georgia mountains. It was there that she met her future husband Carey Case and many close, lifelong friends. Her great love of nature led her to earn her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia in 2007, and later her Master of Science in Sustainability Management from National University in 2013. Her passion for nature and sustainability developed into a very successful career, ultimately achieving the role of Vice President and Sustainable Buildings Lead, North America at JLL.
Alicia was a beloved wife and mother. Alicia and Carey married on November 3rd, 2007, at The State Botanical Gardens in Athens, GA, one of her favorite places. They started their family in Charlotte, North Carolina, where true to form she made many friends. They welcomed their first son, Sawyer, while living in Charlotte. Eventually, they moved back to Atlanta to be close to her family and further her career. It was in Atlanta that they welcomed their second son, Oscar. A devoted mother, Alicia was so proud of her boys and loved them more than anything. She continued to make many friends and touched many lives in Atlanta.
It's no surprise from her love of nature that she also enjoyed hiking, camping, and gardening. She loved to spend time with family and friends, and was constantly entertaining, cooking, and baking. She had a creative soul and loved music, dancing, and art. She also enjoyed crocheting and seemed to always be making another baby blanket for a friend or family member. She was always there for anyone in her life who needed her and left everyone with fond memories we will all cherish. She will be unbelievably missed by so many.
Alicia is preceded in death by her father George P. Mealor, uncle, James H. Mealor, and grandparents, Ann H. Mealor, J.O. "Pat" Stonecipher, and Betty Cook Stonecipher.
She is survived by her husband Carey; children Sawyer and Oscar; siblings Paul Mealor, Rachael Mealor Clayton (Summer), and Mary Mealor; nephews Seth and Rory Clayton; aunt, Ann Holzinger; and cousin, Ann Marie Davis (Brian). In addition, she was so loved by her extended family including great aunts, many cousins, and a wonderful group of friends that she considered family.
A memorial service will be held at Honey Creek Woodlands on November 4, 2023 at 9:30am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Environmental Conservation Organization or Cancer Support Organization of your choice.

My deepest condolences. Alicia was a peer and colleague in the sustainability sector. While I only knew her for a brief period of time, she made such a positive impact on our sector and for me personally. She is smart and bright and that light will live on. My heart and thoughts are with her family and those closest to her
