Dennis Case Obituary

Visit the O'Brien Funeral Home - Bristol website to view the full obituary.
Dennis R. Case, 76, of Burlington CT, died peacefully with loving family by his side on March 18th, 2026 after a short illness. Dennis was born on January 16, 1950 to Kenneth F. Case and Ethel M. (Morin) Case in Bristol CT. After Dennis graduated from Lewis S. Mills High School, he went on to an apprenticeship as a Tool and Die Maker at Barns Group, Associated Spring in Bristol where he worked for 35 years until his retirement in 2008.

Dennis was truly dedicated to the love of his life, Elizabeth, who he fell in love with in 1966 at the age of 16 and later married in 1971. Dennis and Liz were together for 60 years, married for 54 wonderful years.

Dennis served as a member of the Burlington Volunteer Fire Department in his earlier years. Later in life he became a member of the Burlington Land Trust, and spent many hours cleaning up beaver dams and maintaining the Land Trust pond across from his home. Dennis loved the outdoors and hiking. He enjoyed watching the animals in his yard and in the surrounding woods.

Dennis and Liz visited Cape May, NJ each summer to visit with family and also traveled extensively throughout their years together. Even though they did travel a lot, Dennis was one of the lucky individuals who was most happy at home. He lived on the same property for the majority of his years, venturing away for short periods, but always returning to the place where he grew up playing in the surrounding woods. He eventually built his home there and spent the remainder of his days where he most wanted to be.

He was happiest out in his yard working with his chainsaws and tractors, cutting firewood, (his version of going to the gym) and maintaining a beautiful yard. When winter came, his focus switched to playing with his Model A Hot Rods in the garage or doing beautiful custom wood working and renovating the home he and his wife built together.

Dennis was preceded by his father and mother, a brother Kenneth A Case and a sister Patricia Ann Lamothe. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Case, son Brian Case (fiancée Malinda Sears), daughter Jennifer Hartenstine (husband Joseph), grandchildren Logan Hartenstine, Parker Hartenstine and Alex Sears. He is also survived by his brother Phillip R Case (Helga Rehberg) and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol on Monday March 23rd from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held the following morning, Tuesday the 24th at 10 a.m. at O'Brien's followed by internment at Center Cemetery in Burlington. https://www.OBrien-FuneralHome.com In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
