Aline Zerrenner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Connell Funeral Home - Little Chute on Dec. 8, 2022.
Appleton, WI --
Aline Mary Zerrenner, after ending her journey with Alzheimer's, passed away peacefully at 12:15 AM on December 6, 2022. She was born in Edison, NJ daughter of the late Mary and Robert Hirner. On November 20, 1965 she married Walter C. Zerrenner at Our Lady of Peace Church in Edison, NJ. Aline loved to teach and tutor students. She graduated from Montclair State College in 1963 and immediately began her career as a High School Math Teacher. She met her husband Walt in 1964 on the beach in Bayhead, New Jersey.
She had many interests and activities including tennis, golf, skiing, travel and family vacations. She loved to play Bridge, belonged to many Bridge Clubs and played with her good friends into the later years. She treasured the trips with Walt and her most memorable was three weeks to France in 1999. During that trip she got to visit the town in the Alsace region where her grandmother, for whom she was named after, grew up. Aline's smile was contagious and she spread joy to everyone she met. Her closet friend was Joan Eacovalle, her roommate in college.
Aline and Walt were regular Broadway Theater attendees when they lived in New York City. She enjoyed the Performing Arts Center in Appleton and the grandsons John and Mike Bray performances at the Appleton North Theatre and Men's Varsity Choir. An animal lover her whole life she enjoyed the family dogs, cats and horses. She loved nature and the four seasons. Their homes always had wooded lots where she watched the wildlife frolic around in the back yard.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Zerrenner; their children, Kevin and Kathleen; five grandchildren: John Bray, Mike Bray, Nathan Zerrenner, Colton and Kate Schipper.
Private services will be held for the family. A Celebration of Life will be held on December 17, 2022 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the Meade Street Bistro (2729 N. Meade Street, Appleton). The public is invited.
In lieu of flowers, Walt has asked that donations be made to the Aline Zerrenner Dementia-Friendly Fund, a charitable fund within the Fox Valley Community Foundation.
