**Obituary for Allan Matthew Cowden**
Allan Matthew Cowden, born on February 2, 1967, in
Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 29, 2025, following a long illness. He was 58 years old. Allan was a devoted husband, father, brother, and son, whose life was marked by dedication to his family and his work. He was the beloved husband of Suzanne Michelle Cowden and the proud father of Rachel Ann Sexton, who, along with her husband Andy, brought immense joy to his life. A graduate of Deep Creek High School, Allan pursued higher education with determination, earning a two-year Associate Degree in Applied Science from Tidewater Community College and later a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Old Dominion University. His professional career was distinguished by his roles as a Plant Engineer at PPG in Richmond, VA, a Plant Manager for Ondura Roofing Materials in Fredericksburg, VA, and a Plant Engineer at Cornerstone. Allan's interests were deeply rooted in his love for his family and his passions. He was a loving husband to Suzanne and a dedicated father to Rachel, making it a personal law to attend each of her swim meets. He loved to go fast, which fueled his love for cars, the United States Navy, Blue Angels and the United States Airforce, Thunderbirds. He cherished playing golf with his father and friends and was an unwavering fan of the Washington Redskins, whom he continued to support as the Washington Commanders, though in his heart, they would always remain the Redskins.
He is preceded in death by his loving mother, Paige West Cowden. Allan is survived by his wife, Suzanne Michelle Cowden; his daughter, Rachel Ann Sexton, and her husband, Andy; his sister, Terri Bernier, and her husband, Chris; his brother, Christopher Winston Cowden; and his father, Robert "Bob" A. Cowden.
