George Washington Tuttle, Jr., "Jimmy", departed this life on December 15, 2025. He was born on May 9, 1934, in Virginia, to the late George W. Tuttle, Sr. and Annie Culpepper. A life characterized by excitement and exploration, George embraced every opportunity that came his way. After graduating from Deep Creek High School, he pursued his passion for engineering, first earning a diploma in Television and Radio Servicing before graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia in 1964.
His remarkable journey included service in the Army, a pivotal role at RCA in Cape Canaveral, and becoming one of the nation's first Biomedical Engineers at a Veterans Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. George took immense pride in teaching others in his field, reflecting his deep commitment to service and innovation.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, George cherished moments spent with family, particularly on cross-country motorcycle trips with his cousins, Theron and Larry Koon, and shared adventures with his beloved wife, Violet.
George was preceded in death by his beloved wife Violet Johnson Tuttle. He is survived by his stepchildren, Brooks Johnson, Jr., Page S. Johnson II (Amy), Rebecca J. Lydens (Frank).
He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love, laughter, and lifelong learning.
A graveside service to honor George's life will be held on December 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Olive Branch Cemetery - Cpl J M Williams Ave, Portsmouth, VA 23701.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Deep Creek United Methodist Church in Chesapeake, VA.
