Allan B. Douglass, 74 of Gallatin, passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2023. He was born in Rhinebeck, on May 3, 1949 to the late Catherine & Allan J. Douglass. For a number of years Allan was the owner and operator or Boar's Head in Elizaville. He was also a bus driver for Pine Plains Central School for many years and was a truck driver for Duffy Layton Contracting.
Allan was a 58 year member of the Milan Fire Department and was a founding member of the Milan Rescue Squad. He was also a member of the Red Hook & Rhinebeck Elks. An avid Nascar fan, who also enjoyed cooking and camping with his family.
Allan is survived by his wife of 50 years, Christine (Scheer) Douglass, his three children; Karen & Thomas McGhee Jr., David & Heather Douglass and Michael & Lori Douglass. His eight grandchildren; Sage, Hunter, Chloe, Meridyth, Daniel, Quinnley, Teagan, and Freya. In addition to many family, friends, and his puppy George.
In addition to his parents, Allan was also predeceased by his brother Chester Douglass and his father and mother in law, George and Edith Scheer.
In honoring Allan's wishes there will be no formal services. Those who wish to make a memorial contribution in his memory are requested to do so too either Milan Rescue Squad, 900 Route 199, Red Hook, NY 12571 or Community Hospice of Columbia & Greene Counties, 42 Liberty Street, Catskill, NY 12414.
