Our hearts are broken with the loss of Allan Millard Leonard, or as his great grandchildren called him "The Old Papa".
Al passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, June 20, 2023, at the Kinnic Care Center in River Falls.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 25th from 3-7pm at Poor Farm Events Center, located at 760 Crosstown Road, 2 miles from Al's home of 87 years.
Al was born, raised, and lived his entire life in Trimbelle Township. Born November 12, 1935 to Donald and Emily (Marker) Leonard. Al was the 3rd born of 7 brothers.
He married Janice Marie Schmelzer on April 23, 1960. Together they raised three children: Dick, Julie, and Joe.
Al started out at a young age working at the Farmers Union working on trucks. He then ventured out to run A.M. Leonard Construction in the 70s. In the late 70s he worked for Stanley Boles, driving semi-trucks hauling farm machinery. Al was a jack of all trades and was eager to help anyone out. He loved tractors, antique cars, and old equipment shows, however, his greatest love of all was his family. He always showed love and appreciation beyond measure.
Al is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice, as well as their children Dick (wife, Lori), Julie McIntosh (husband, Steve), Joe (wife, Tammy); grandchildren: Levi, Logan, Ali, Cody, Collin, Adrian, Cole, Abby, Gavin, and Liam; great grandchildren: Kylie, Keira, Ila, Kamille, Adelia, Elizabeth, and Kasen; brothers: Ronald (Peg), Mike (Terri), and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents, Donald and Emily, as well as brothers, Duwayne, Gaylen, Harold, and Jake Leonard.
Memorial and cremation services are entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ellsworth, www.oconnellfuneralhomes.com, 715-273-4421
