Allan Skerker
Brighton: It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Allan J. Skerker, our "Saba", who left us on August 5th surrounded by his loving family in his final moments. Allan was a big man with a big loving heart and large presence, who always had something positive to say and went out of his way to make people laugh. Allan was born in Westfield, MA and raised in Buffalo, NY. While attending college and serving in the military in Israel, Allan met the love of his life, Mirit. They married in 1972 and lived on a kibbutz with the other love of his life, Blondie the cow. After the birth of their daughter Sheila, Allan and Mirit moved back to the US to be near his family. In addition to his long career in retail, Allan was also known for allegedly playing quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, nearly every position for the NY Yankees, power forward for the Boston Celtics, and forward for Manchester United. Allan was also a "Fan Favorite" by so many people that interacted with him, including his childhood friends, Mark and Andy, the entire Wegmans Pharmacy staff, his favorite Dr., Carla, and his friends from Temple Sinai and the JCC weekly discussion groups.
Allan was predeceased by his father Saul Skerker, mother Bertha (David) Stone, and wife Mirit Skerker. He will be dearly missed by his daughter Sheila Wehbe, son in law Ziad his "buddy"; grandkids Sammy and Nadia, the loves of his life; his brother, Herb (Monica) Skerker, and others.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Temple Sinai, 363 Penfield Rd., Rochester, NY 14625 [Click for a Map to Temple]. Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the adult education fund at Temple Sinai, 363 Penfield Road, Rochester, NY 14625.
Shiva will be observed at 4 Princeton Place, Pittsford from Sunday August 10th to Thursday August 14th, from 2-4 and 6-8 with prayers each evening at 7PM. [Click for a Map to the house of Shiva]
