Allan "Herky" Woodell, 87, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.

Born in Washington, DC, on July 9, 1938, he was the son of the late Kelly Woodell and Ethel Knight Woodell. Allan was a gifted craftsman and spent his career as a contractor. He owned and operated his own construction company and eventually retired as an inspector. He also enjoyed working outdoors – you could always find him watering flowers, gardening and riding his lawnmower. He also liked cruising around the Caribbean.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Janice Woodell; daughter, Catherine Woodell; grandchildren, Amy Duvall, Ashley Lanham, Adam Woodell, Alison Elsner, and Evan Woodell; several great-grandchildren; brother Joseph "Joe" and his wife Ginny; sister, Lynne Woodell and her husband Ed; many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, Allan is preceded in death by his son, Allan Scott Woodell; and his siblings, Mary Bartlett, Helen Maggiore, Ethel "Blimpy" Cangemi, and Harry Woodell.

A committal service will be held at Southern Memorial Gardens in Dunkirk, Maryland, at 12:30 PM on Thursday, October 16.

We find comfort in knowing that Herky's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
