Allen Adams, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful Christian leader, and respected businessman passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at the age of 89.
Born in Oklahoma City on September 9, 1935, Allen graduated from Central High School, where he met Paula Lupton. Their high school friendship blossomed into a beautiful marriage that lasted 48 years, built on love, loyalty, and shared faith.
Allen pursued higher education at the University of Oklahoma before earning a degree in Mathematics from Central State College. He began his professional career at Western Electric, but after a few years moved to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) where he was employed as a computer specialist – creating and editing code for one of the first mainframe computer systems. Following his tenure at FAA, Allen acquired the Army Surplus Store on the corner of 10th and Classen from his father. At one time, the business had expanded to three stores before he decided to retire. In retirement, he became a real estate investor, acquiring several rental homes and inspiring his grandson to follow in his footsteps.
An avid outdoorsman, Allen loved fishing, hunting and spending time in the woods. In his younger years, he spent much time fishing with the men in his family along rivers and creeks in central Oklahoma. He had a special love of big game hunting, starting with annual deer hunts to Utah with his family, but later expanding to include hunts for bear, antelope, elk, and bison. Allen especially enjoyed sharing these hunting trips with his wife, children and grandchildren.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Allen was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Yukon. He served the church as Chairman of the Deacons, Member of a Pastor Search Committee, and Chairman of the Building Committee. His efforts helped guide the church through a major expansion, culminating in the construction of the current sanctuary building.
Allen is survived by his daughter, Dr. Alecia Hanes, and her husband David, with children Levi (and wife Brandi), Aaron (and wife Maria), and Spencer (and husband Jake); his son Arnold and wife Margaret, with children Amy Sacco (and husband Garrett) and Andrew Adams (and wife Kasey); his son Anthony and wife Linda, with children Jennifer Marks (and husband Darrell), Kristine Shaffer (and husband Bill), and Melinda Stednitz; his sister Ansolea Corkle; his brother Aaron Adams and wife Carolyn; sister-in-law Portia Hanson; and many cherished great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Paula Adams; his parents, Arnold C. and Loraine Adams; and his great-grandson, Grant Hanes.
In his final years, Allen faced the challenges of Alzheimer's disease with courage and dignity. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Spanish Cove for their exceptional care and kindness.
Allen's legacy will live on through his unwavering faith, servant leadership, and the profound love he shared with all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 19th at 10:00 a.m. at Yanda & Son Funeral Home, 1500 W. Vandament Avenue, Yukon, OK. Following the service, Allen will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13400 N. Kelley Avenue, Oklahoma City.
A viewing will take place on Friday July 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Yanda & Son Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends and loved ones from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Spanish Cove or to Compassionate Sharing of Yukon in honor of Allen's lifelong dedication to his faith, community, and the care he received.
