Allen G. Barber, 88, of Reading, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025 at the Reading Hospital, surrounded in love by his family. He was the husband of Anita (Lenich) Barber. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Allen and Cecelia (Wojszwillo) Barber.
Allen was a graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1955. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 until 1959, followed by 3 additional years of Reserve Duty. He attained the rank of Corporal, and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, as well as the Sharpshooter Medal. After his military service, he went on to hold various supervisory roles with the Glidden Paint Company. After 40 years of work, he retired from Glidden in 1998. Allen was also a proud member of Hampden Fire Company #6, where he was also a member of the fire company's marching unit. It was during a parade in Manheim in 1962 where he would meet Anita.
In addition to his wife, Allen is survived by his sons, Eric K., husband of Wanda, Steven D., husband of Tracy, Michael A., husband of Melissa, and Kenneth N., husband of Lynn. as well as his four grandchildren Andrew, Ashley, Lila and Kanai. He is also survived by his brother Eugene L. Barber.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00am at St. Catharine of Sienna R.C.C., 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading PA 19606. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale PA 19605. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Catharine of Sienna R.C.C. or to the Wounded Warrior Project by visiting http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
