Lawndale - Mr. James Allen Brittain, 80, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Atrium Health - Cleveland.
Allen was born on November 9, 1943 in Gaston County, NC a son of the late Carmie F. Brittain, Sr. and Maude Costner Brittain. He retired as a driver from Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation, ABF and later worked for Gaston Housing Authority. Allen was an active member of Plainsview Baptist Church in Lawndale where he served as a deacon, helped with Baptist Men and the Disaster Relief Team.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Eaker Brittain; a son, Mark Brittain; a grandson, Josh Brittain; two brothers, Kenneth Brittain and John Wayne Brittain.
Survivors include a son, Reggie Brittain of Lawndale; a stepson, Jeffrey Homesley of Bessemer City; a sister, Ruth Rudisill; two brothers, Earl Brittain and C.F. Brittain, Jr. both of Cherryville; also surviving are five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 9:45AM to 10:45AM on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Plainsview Baptist Church.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday September 21, 2024 at Plainsview Baptist Church with the Revs. Wayne Key and Jerry Lail officiating.
Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Plainsview Baptist Church, 266 Plainsview Church Road, Lawndale, NC 28090.

Mr Allen was our neighbor for several years and we looked at him as a grandpa especially my daughter shaylee. Going to definitely miss him alot..this is him and my daughter goofing around at his house
