Allen E. Butts

Allen E. Butts, 88, of Hampshire, passed away Monday evening, October 13, 2025, at Loyola Medical Center in Chicago.
He was born June 24, 1937, in Millersburg, Ohio, the son of Henry and Clara (Gray) Butts. In his early years, Allen was a Boy Scout and played on the Youth League Baseball Team in Loudonville. He attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and met his wife, Palma Pagniano at a Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) meeting. They were married on April 4, 1959, in Wooster, Ohio. Allen and Palma celebrated 61 years of marriage. A job promotion brought the family to Elgin, IL in 1974 and later to Hampshire, IL where he retired. Allen's hobbies included golf, gardening, and regular walks throughout Hampshire with Palma. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his son, Steven (Jill) Butts; his grandchildren, Timothy (Rachel), Kyle (Molly), Nathan (Erika), Skyler, and Shelby; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Roger (Trudy) Butts and Arthur (Norma) Butts; and daughter-in-law, Dana Butts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Palma; two sons, Michael and Thomas Butts; brother, Albert Butts, and sister, Virginia Butts-Coon.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24th from 9:30 -10:45 a.m. followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church 297 E. Jefferson Ave. in Hampshire. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
