The Reverend Allen Lee Dooley, 73, passed away at his home December 24, 2010. Born July 16, 1937 in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late Walter L. and Christine Hartbarger Doole. Reverend Dooley was the retired Pastor Emeritus of Temple Baptist Church of Chesapeake, VA, retiring in 2007 after 37 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Doris A. Dooley; two sons, Steven Todd Dooley and wife Lori of Chesapeake, VA and Michael Tad Dooley and wife Shannon of Chesapeake, VA; a daughter, Kristi Michelle Layden and husband Gary of Charlotte, NC; nine grandchildren, Cameron T. Dooley, Landon A. Dooley, Brooke A. Dooley, Tae A. Dooley, M. Tad Dooley, Christine G. Dooley, Cara F. Dooley, Grayson Allen Layden and Aubree E. Layden. Additional to his mother and father, he was predeceased by his brothers, Lenford, Billy, Charlie and Russell Dooley. He graduated from Tennessee Temple College in 1960 with a B.A. Degree and Tennessee Temple Seminary with a Master of Theology Degree in 1963. He founded and pastored Grace Baptist Church in Richmond, Indiana from 1963 to 1970 at which time he became the Pastor of Temple Baptist Church of Chesapeake. He was a board member of B.I.M.I. and Union Mission. A Home-going Celebration will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Bill Compton, Reverend Dr. Frank Holman, Reverend Dr. Jim Rushing, Reverend Jerry Greco and Reverend William Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church. The family requests that memorials in lieu of flowers be made to the mission program at Temple Baptist Church, 1322 N. George Washington Highway, Chesapeake, VA 23323. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.

Dear Doris and family....For some reason, you all were laid on my heart and mind today so I went out online to check in with you. My sincere condolences on the passing of Pastor Dooley. He is experiencing what he preached about so often! Heaven at last!
