Allen Breckenridge Robinson, 91, Shelbyville, died Monday, June 23, 2025 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital. A native of Tyrone, Kentucky, he was the son of the late John William "Willie' Robinson and Susan Roosevelt Harlow Robinson. He obtained his associate's degree in accounting from Fugazzi Business College in Lexington and attended Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving three years during the Korean Conflict in Military Police stationed at Fort Meade in Maryland. His career in Kentucky State Government spanned over 26 years in the Transportation Cabinet as the Assistant Director of Purchases. Additionally, he was the State Officer for Kentucky for the National Institute of Government Purchasing for over 15 years. He was a life member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, McKee Lodge #51 in Versailles. He was also a lifetime member of Bluegrass Railroad Museum and was a steam engine enthusiast. In his leisure time, he and his wife enjoyed numerous cruises on the Delta Queen, and he was proficient in woodworking as a fun hobby. He was a long-time member of Sand Spring Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, where he was president of the Cemetery Corporation for an exceedingly long while and was a former Sunday School teacher. He lived a good long life and passed on his half birthday and just one day following his 67th wedding anniversary with the love of his life. He was ready to go home and be reunited. In addition to his parents, his loving wife, Doris June Houchin-Wright Robinson; one half-brother, Emmett Robinson and his son-in-law, Donald Wayne Buckler, preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughter, Doris Angela Robinson Buckler of New Castle; his son, Jonathan "Jon" Allan Robinson (Julie) of Lexington; two grandchildren, Nathaniel Allen "Nate" Buckler (Emily) of Cropper and Katherine Buckler Maxey (John) of Shelbyville and one great-grandson, Harrison Wayne Buckler of Cropper. Cremation has been selected in accordance with his wishes. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Webb Funeral Home with visitation after 10 a.m. Rev. Dr. Dave Charlton will deliver the eulogy, and the service will conclude with military honors. The cremated remains will be privately interred later.
