Allen Henry Smith, 11., 86 of Waukegan passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2025. He was born November 14, 1938 in Chicago. Allen lived a full and vibrant life marked by love for his family and a joyful spirit that touched all who knew him. Allen was the beloved husband of Christine (nee Jones) Smith and devoted father to the late Allen (Della), Michael, Timothy Smith and Laura. (Dennis) Ostrander. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Allen (Krista) Smith, Andrew and Nicole Ostrander, Anthony (Josie) Smith and Luke (Elizabeth) Smith, great grandchildren; Ciara, Mariah, Anthony, Sofia, Allen, Luke Anthony, Polly, Luke Jacob,
Priscilla, Bessie and Lottie.

He was preceded in death by his son Allen H. Smith Ill; his brothers: William (Bill) Smith and John (Jack) Smith; his father Allen H. Sr.; and his mother Mary (Nee Lozia) Smith.

Known affectionately as "Big Al," Allen had a warm presence that brought comfort and laughter to those around him. With his round belly and fluffy white beard, he bore a striking resemblance to SantaClaus-an image that delighted children and adults alike.

In earlier years, Allen loved nothing more than dancing with Christine, sharing countless joyful moments together on the dance floor. He found peace in fishing trips and took great pride in his skills as a cook, preparing meals that brought the family together around
the table.

Allen's humor and generous heart made him deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the stories shared by family and friends.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

His celebration of life will be announced at a later date
