Allene “Janie” Louise Combs, age 95 passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
Graveside Services will be held at 11am Thursday, March 21st at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6p-8p Wednesday, March 20th at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.
Allene Louise Herzog was born March 23,1928 to Edward and Ida Herzog in Cego, TX. The last of 10 children, they called her “Janie”. Married her love, Burtis Combs on September 19, 1953 in Waco. Before his passing in 2004, they celebrated 51 years together and loved to go out dancing. She worked as a seamstress for many years in sewing factories and later worked from home so she could raise her children and loved to sew for her friends and family.
Janie enjoyed baking desserts and cooking for everyone. She loved to watch Rodeos and eat Bluebell ice cream with her dog Lucy, who she loved. She was a loving Wife, Mom and Aunt. To us she was “Our Nana”, she was loved so much and will be missed by everyone.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, 6 Brothers and 3 Sisters, Husband, Burtis Combs, Granddaughter, Staci Combs and her loving Son, Curtis Combs who passed away one day earlier. We believe she died from a broken heart.
Janie is survived by her daughter, Lisa Edwards and husband Jimmy. Grandchildren: Devin Edwards, Trea Edwards, Mycha Combs & Ashley Combs and many nieces and nephews.
And then they realized, “We are all so much better for having her in our hearts."
Have a wonderful journey Nana,
Rest in Peace.
