Allene Freeman Obituary
Allene was born on February 23, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. Her parents, Flon and Inez Taylor Pickens, and husband, David Freeman, all preceded her in death. She retired as a service representative at Southern Bell. Allene was a member of Harp's Crossing Baptist Church and was enthusiastic about her Sunday school class. She also was an accomplished seamstress and loved sewing.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, June and Mike Shell; grandchildren and their spouses, Kimberly and John Blaine, Michael and Kara Shell, and Stephen and Erin Shell; great-grandchildren, Emma, Ella, Anna, Emily, Ellia, Nathan, Daniel, Kaitlyn, and Elijah; sisters, Retha Clark and Dorothy Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family graveside service at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A celebration of Allene's life will follow in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Allene's honor to Harp's Crossing Expansion Fund at https://harpscrossing.churchcenter.com/giving.
