Alma "Jean" Harper, 95, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023. Jean was born on July 29, 1927, in Kendricktown, Missouri, to Ray and Florida Erwin. She was a long-time resident of Carthage and graduated with the Carthage High School Class of 1945. Jean worked at the Bank of Carthage for 30 years before working for and retiring from Carthage Hardware. She was baptized at the age of 11 at the Kendricktown Methodist Church where she attended for many years. She enjoyed spending time at the Carthage Can-Do Center and spending time with her family.
Jean was united in marriage to Lloyd Harper on June 2, 1961, at the Methodist Church by Reverend Glen Trowbridge; Lloyd preceded her in death on December 26, 2000.
She is survived by one daughter, Amy L. Eddins (Kenneth) of Carthage; three grandchildren, Levi Eddins (Virginia), Amanda Eddins, and Karla Kleveno; 6 great-grandchildren, Aiden Eddins, Sofia Eddins, Korbin Eddins, Hillary Patrick (Matt), Heather Anderson (Ethan), and Haley Longstaff; and five great-great grandchildren, Ashten Adams, Austin Adams, and Alex Adams, Cooper Patrick, and Harper Patrick.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Judith Wright.
A funeral service is scheduled for Jean at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday evening, January 30, 2023, at Ulmer Funeral Home. The burial will follow immediately after the service at Fasken Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri.
Any contributions may be made to Can-Do Senior Center of Carthage in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
