Aloma Hutton Walton, 90, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
A memorial service to honor Aloma’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 22nd at Cherry Point Church of Christ. She will be laid to rest privately at Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Aloma was born on November 14, 1935, in Marion, Virginia, to the late Carmon and Lillian Hutton. She was a beautiful Christian woman who loved the Lord with all her heart. She was an active member at Cherry Point Church of Christ where she loved her church family. Aloma had a profound passion for sharing her love of the Word of God, which she expressed through teaching Bible classes. Aloma, alongside her late husband Vic, volunteered with the Church of Christ Disaster Relief program, extending compassion and support to countless families in need.
In 1965 Aloma moved to eastern North Carolina making the coast her new home. Being Appalachian by birth, Aloma had a deep appreciation for the mountains which always remained close to her heart. She always loved good old country mountain music. She loved gardening and always appreciated the beauty of flowers.
More than anything, Aloma loved her family and was proud of her children and their accomplishments throughout life. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, Vickie Riley of Sanford, NC, Patti Rutz of Newport, NC, and Gretchen Rodriquez (Frank) of Newport, NC; son, Donovan Walton (Jennifer) of Rocky Top, TN; sisters, Sharon Quesenberry of Abingdon, VA and Velda Frye of Marion, VA; brother, Conway Hutton of Tazewell, VA; grandchildren, Jesse Riley, William Riley, Evan Riley, Carolina Rubart, Cayleigh Varner, Wesley Rutz, Olivia Rutz, Savannah Rutz, and Liliana Rodriquez; and 7 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Aloma was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 57 years, Vester “Vic” Walton; brothers, Basil Hutton, Alton Hutton, and Rabon Hutton; and grandchildren, Angel Rodriquez and Samuel Riley.
