EUNICE~It is with the heaviest heart that the family of Alonda Ann Gobert, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, announces her peaceful passing on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the age of 67 at Opelousas General. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Mallet. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Ann Catholic Cemetery with Father Gregory Simien, Celebrant.
Alonda was a nurturing and caring soul, known for her unwavering love and dedication to her family. She was the heart of her family, the one everyone turned to for family history, stories, and guidance. She had an incredible memory for details, recounting events with clarity and care, ensuring that family traditions and stories lived on. Her genuine and open nature made her the go-to person for sharing and preserving family memories.
Alonda's love for her late son, Dylan Young, was immeasurable. Dylan, who passed away three years ago on August 2, 2021, was her world. The bond they shared was profound, and she cherished every moment they had together. Dylan left behind two daughters, Alonda's precious granddaughters, who were the light of her life. Her granddaughters were her pride and joy, and she loved them deeply, dedicating much of her time and energy to ensuring their happiness and well-being.
A woman of strong faith, Alonda found solace and strength in her belief in God. Her faith guided her through the many losses she experienced over the years, as she mourned the passing of many beloved family members. She took comfort in the thought of being reunited with them in the afterlife. In her early years, Alonda enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening, and she had a particular love for flowers. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and shared her passions with family and friends. Her kindness, generosity, and loving spirit touched everyone who knew her. Alonda was a genuine and caring individual, always putting others before herself. Her nurturing nature was a hallmark of her character throughout her life.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her loving siblings, Eddie Gobert and wife, Mary of Diamondhead, MS, Paul Gobert of Mallet, and Genevieve Simien of Opelousas; her grandchildren, Zhailey Young of Ville Platte and Mila Kay Young of Melville; her companion, Charles Young of Opelousas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Alonda leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family. She will be deeply missed by her granddaughters, her siblings, nieces, nephews, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her spirit will continue to inspire love and kindness in her family.
Rest in peace, Alon’ – You will be forever cherished and remembered.
She now rests in Heaven with her son, Dylan C. Young; parents, Clarence and Mildred DuRousseau Gobert; siblings, James T. Gobert, Clarence “Blue” Gobert, Harold Gobert, Dennis “Pierre” Gobert, Carroll Gobert, Darrell Gobert, Laura Mae Gobert, and Phillip Gobert; niece, Angeleach Davis; and nephew, Jonathan Gay.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 9:00 am until 12:30pm.
