Alonzo Thomas "AL" Roach was born February 20, 1930, southeast of Pumpkin Center, OK, to George Washington and Nancy Elizabeth (Miller) Roach and departed this life in Lawton, OK on December 20, 2025 at the age of 95 years and 10 months.
Alonzo attended the schools of Pleasant Valley east and south of Lawton, Owens Prairie east of Marlow, Empire School and Central High, graduating from Central in 1948. He then worked in construction and delivery for 3 years before joining the U.S. Army in 1951. He served one tour in Korea and was discharged in 1953, returning home and driving delivery trucks till 1961 when he began a 27-year career with the Department of Army, Civil Service. He retired from Civil Service in April of 1988, but stayed at Fort Sill working for contractors for several years.
AL enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, working in the yard and feeding the wildlife.
He married Wanda May Sullivan on October 31, 1951 and to the union 4 children were born. He later married Isabell Bottoms on April 10, 1970, making their home in Lawton. She preceded him in death in October of 2001. On May 8, 2002, AL married Doris Langford, making their home east of Lawton. Doris preceded him in death in March of 2017. He was also preceded in death by his parents, George and Nancy Elizabeth Roach; 6 sisters, Bessie Aston, Lois Ray, Elsie Pollard, Alice Fletcher, Lenora Dowlen and Kathleen Roach; 3 brothers, Ed Roach, Riley Roach and Charlie Roach; a granddaughter, Chastity Roach; and a great granddaughter, Lacy Lyle.
AL is survived by 4 children, Thomas Lynn Roach and Marilyn of Stratford, OK, Patsy Sue Lewis of Mustang, OK, Bobby Joe Roach of Geronimo, OK, Henry George Roach and Debbie Jane of Duenweg, MO; 2 brothers, Jack Roach and Beverly of Boston, MA, and John Roach and Cora of Fletcher; 1 sister-in-law, Lorene Roach of Lawton; 9 grandchildren, Shauna Franklin and Ted of Stratford, OK, Tina Nichols and Don of Elmore City, OK, Kelly Corpuz and Richard of Prosper, TX, Kari Webb and David of Mustang, OK, Chris Roach and Christina of Aurora, CO, Holley Terry of Aurora, Barbi Trevarrow and Chris of Neosho, MO, Cash Hoover of Neosho, and Larry H. Riley II of Lawton; 12 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
