Alphia (Al) Joseph Learn of South Boston, VA passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at home with his family. He was 91 years old. Born in Englewood, NJ to Stanley and Ethel (née Doll) Learn, Al raised his family in Brick Township, NJ before moving to South Boston, VA in 1986.
In early adulthood Al proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean war. After his service he started his career as an over the road truck driver for Ethicon, his hard work ethic and frugal spending allowed him to retire at the early age of 49.
Shortly after retiring, Al purchased a motorhome where he and his wife (Marielle) would travel around the country and spend every winter out west. They loved living life on the road as true "snow birds." In his spare time Al loved fiddling with things, driving his tractor and trying to grow his lawn. He could fix just about anything.
Alphia is predeceased by his wife of 60 years Marielle, two sons, Ronald and Alan, three brothers, Stanley, Lawrence and Richard and two sisters, Edna and Ethel.
He is survived by his daughter Colette Davis (James), granddaughter Erica Kane (Tom), grandson's Aaron and Joseph Learn, and great grandson Landon Evans.
As per Al's wishes, services will be private.
