Althea Washington Garcia

Althea Washington Garcia departed this life on October 15, 2025 at the age of 83.
A devoted wife to her recently deceased husband the late Malcolm Garcia Jr. whom she was happily married to for 64 years. Daughter of the late Rosia B and Lester Washington. Mother of Rosia G. Cahn, Valerie Garcia, Malcolm Garcia III, Parnell Garcia and Jonathan Garcia. Sister of Diane Anderson, Jennifer Howard, and the following deceased siblings: Lester Washington Jr, Richard Washington, Joseph Washington, Eldon Washington, Ronald Washington Sr., Sheila Achelles, and Yolanda Watkins. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Althea was a devoted wife and a loving mother. She was a giver. If you had a need, Althea would figure out a way to help because she was caring and nurturing. Before having children, she helped raise her younger siblings because family meant everything to Althea. She was, without a doubt, the heartbeat of her family but has now moved on to be with the love of her life, Malcolm Garcia Jr. in heaven. She left the "family first" legacy with all who loved her.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Rhodes Funeral Home, 1020 Virgil St., Gretna, LA on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 10:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Interment: Private
