Micheal Taylor was born on April 4, 1958 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Benny Taylor, Sr. and Ollie Taylor. He entered into rest at the age of 67 on October 15, 2025, peacefully at his home.
Micheal accepted Christ in his thirties and was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church by the late Reverend Joseph Walker, Jr. He spent his early years in the Ninth Ward until his parents relocated to the Haydel Manor Subdivision. He completed his high school education at West Jefferson High School in the early 1970s.
Above all else, Micheal found his greatest joy in being a father and "PawPaw." He poured himself into his grandchildren especially his "saving grace," Armyni also known as "The Boss." His children, Lakeisha, Zahetisha, and Akeem, were the foundation of his happiness and he lovingly referenced them as: "Keisha is the Warden," "Zee is the Mean One," and Akeem is "That Boy!" His love and laughter, and his frequent phone calls, were a constant blessing to all who knew him. He enjoyed music and sharing stories about being apart of the Jackson 5. He also loved Yolonda Adams, he thought she was the best gospel singer ever. He was so intrigued with Hollywood gossip as if he lived in Los Angles!
As a grandfather, he cherished every moment with A'Quan, Za'Ron, Armyni, Akeem Jr., Zyan, Aiden, Keemaj, Kaiden, Akeel, Sincere, and Saint. He took delight in calling family and friends to wish them cheer on birthdays and holidays.
Before a stroke left him paralyzed, Micheal worked as the butcher at Ragusa, where he was known by nearly everyone. He loved his work so much that he would arrive two hours before his official time. He also delighted in watching "The Idiot Box," as he called television, and he never shied away from testifying how God changed his life. His booming voice, street vocabulary, and radiant presence lit up any room he entered. He was a devoted father, uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend.
Micheal leaves to cherish his memories: his daughters, Lakeisha Taylor-Theodore and Son-n- Love, Willie Theodore, Zahetisha Taylor- Bibbins, and Son-n-Love, Terrell Bibbins, his Son, Akeem Murph Sr, and his daughter-n-love, Ranae Murph, his grandchildren, A'Quan (Nita), Za'Ron, Armyni, Akeem Jr, Zyan, Aiden, Keemaj, Kaydence, Akeel, Sincere, and Saint, his bonus grandchildren, Brandon, Zharia, and Sanii Jason, his sister, Debra Taylor, his God-Daughter, Lakeitha Smith, his lifelong friends Muriel Murph, Joe Smith, Jay and Willie Harris Jr., and the late, Willie Harris Sr., his forever mother in law, Martha Cowart; nephew and niece Jamal and Latasha Taylor, his favorite lady cousins, D'Angela Barthe', Quisa, and Stacey Foster and other cousins, Haydel Manor friends, and his helpful friends in the Gates of Manhattan.
Micheal was preceded in death by his parents; Benny Sr. and Ollie Taylor, his sister; Gwendolyn Taylor, his brothers; Gregory and Michelle Taylor, his nephews; Damien and Brandon Taylor. His forever brother-n-laws, Earl, Stanley, Stoney, and Justin Cowart, and his Forever Sister-N-Law; Onzelee Cowart.
