Juanita Pittman Hampton

Juanita Pittman Hampton was born in Walthall County (Tylertown, MS) on November 13,1938 to the union of the late Merdie Pittman Jr and Weda Dillon. Due to the passing of her mother, Juanita moved to Picayune, MS, where she lived with her father and stepmother, Hannah Pittman. Later she moved to New Orleans, LA, and lived with Myrtis Singleton. Juanita attended McDonogh #40 , Andrew J Bell Junior High School and Joseph S. Clark Senior High School. While at Clark, Juanita met and married Louis Ramson Hampton Jr. To this union, they had three children Juanita joined church and was baptized at an early age. She was a faithful church and choir member of Triumph The Overcoming Church in God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Louis Hampton Sr and later, Bishop Claudell Hampton. She also attended Restoration Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Jermaine R. Hampton until her health began to fail. Juanita worked in retail for several years. She was employed by The My Shop and Lerner Shops. On September 17, 2025, Juanita was called from her earthly home at Wynhoven Health Care Center, to her heavenly home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, her parents, Merdie and Weda, her siblings, Frankie Pittman, Octavia Henderson, and Ada Pittman Peters, Willie James Pittman, Glin Hunter, Pansy Jones, Gloria Patrick, and Lucy Preston. She leaves to cherish her memories, three children; Linda Renita Rose Hampton, Lionel Hampton Sr and LeRoyal Hampton (Sheryl); her siblings, Loletta Pittman Peters, Lee Harvey Davis, Jeannette Thompson, Alvin Pittman Sr. and Mary Ann Fortenberry (Earl); ten grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
