Alton was a devoted family man, known for his unwavering love and commitment to his family.
Alton's journey through life was marked by his diverse experiences, being an only child. A skilled laborer, he embraced a variety of roles throughout his career, including working as an offshoresman, a line cook, and an auto detailer. Through it all, he remained a simple man who found true joy in the little things-sharing laughter over a homemade meal and hitting the open road with family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished forever. His love for cooking extended to every meal he prepared, with Alton enjoying it most when shared with those he cherished. An avid fan of the New Orleans Saints, he wore his team colors with pride and passion.
Alton will be remembered for his strong work ethic and unconditional love for his family. His legacy is one of strength, simplicity, and solid connections that have woven together the fabric of countless lives.
He is survived by his son, Christopher Barber; daughters, Crystal (Wayne) Christophe and Christy Barber; and a grandchild, Donovan Champagne.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Hazel Barber Sr., maternal grandparents, Albert and Della Thomas and his paternal grandparents, Ernest Johnson and Irene Barber.
