Alton Louis Washington, 50, of Hampton, VA passed away unexpectedly, Sunday March 3, 2023.
Alton entered this world on March 9, 1972 to parents, Rev. Alton M. Washington and Mrs. Kathleen S. Washington, and siblings, Dwayne Mason Washington (deceased) and Crystal C. Washington. He graduated from Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He completed his course work for a Bachelors Degree in business administration at Strayer University. He had a long career in retail management at Wilson's Leather and Nordstrom. His most recent position was with GEICO Insurance.
He accepted Christ at an early age, and received baptism at Metropolitan Baptist Church, Washington, D.C. As an expression of his faith, he served in the usher's ministry there. When Alton returned to the Hampton Roads area, he became a member of Grove Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Rev. Dr. Alton & Mrs. Kathleen Washington; a sister, Crystal C. Washington; sister-in-law, Pamela Washington; one nephew, Dwayne J. Washington; one niece Jackie (Clyde) Lawrence; three grand-nieces; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins; a multitude of friends, especially Robert Mullins, Cherise Williams and Rasheka Williams.
As we remember Alton, lets not forget that he was a man of strong faith and that he would want us to hold onto our faith as we go through this season.
A funeral service will be held 12Noon Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Vincent Funeral Home, Providence Forge, VA. A viewing will be held 2 hours prior, from 10AM-12Noon Thursday.
