Álvaro Vergara Rivera, 93, of Kerrville passed from this life on April 26, 2025 at his residence.
Álvaro Vergara nació en 1932 en un pueblo pequeño de México. El fue muy trabajador desde niño, creció cultivando el campo para después en su vida ser panadero junto a su amada esposa, juntos criaron a sus 12 hijos. Fue uno de los pilares más importantes de su numerosa familia que consiste de muchos, nietos, bisnietos y tataranietos.
Era conocido por su gran generosidad y siempre mantenerse optimista a pesar de cualquier obstáculo que la vida le pusiera en su camino. Adoraba a toda su familia desde el más grande hasta el más pequeño, incluyendo a su compañero de parranda Jeffrey.
Álvaro fue conocido por muchos de su comunidad por su devoción a su fé Católica y por siempre ser muy caritativo. Álvaro sirvió a Dios con el alma y corazón, tanto que no había un domingo que faltara a La Santa Misa. Nos deja muchos recuerdos que por siempre perduraran en nuestros corazones!
Álvaro is preceded in death by his parents, Margarito Vergara and Francisca Rivera; son, Osiel Vergara; and best friend, Jefferey.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 74 years, Adalberta Perez Berrun; daughters, Urbana Vergara, Zoila Vergara (Francisco), Ma. Elena Vergara (Ismael), Ma. Elvia Vergara (Andres), Adenis Vergara (Humberto), Maria Vergara; sons, Jesus Vergara (Reyna), Bertin Vergara, Aungusto Vergara (Clara), Areli Vergara (Maria) and Bolivar Vergara.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Rafael Duda as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 5:00 PM, Tuesday at Kerrville Funeral Home with visitation to follow.
Pallbearers will be Adolfo Urquiza, Francisco Estrella, Alveniz Vergara, Donovan Vergara, Justin Miranda, Eden Miranda, Eroin Flores, Natanael Flores.
