Leonard Lee Bearden, 84, of Mountain Home, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2025, at his home. He was born September 20, 1940, to Will and Marie Bearden in Texas City.

Lee spent his working career of 35 years with the Texas Department of Public Safety. The last years of his career he spent working with his favorite partner, his canine Beaumont. They both retired together in 1997. In retirement, Lee loved travel with his wife of 65 years, Barbara. He loved to process wild game for area hunters, and every year he played Santa, delivering packages of sausage to friends. He also loved to tinker in his shop, creating repurposed crafts that he would give as gifts. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bearden; sister, Margie Hamilton; children, Keith Bearden, Kevin Bearden and his wife, Kay, and Kenneth Bearden and his wife, Stacy; grandchildren, Angela Sprouse, William Bearden, Anthony Bearden, Bradley Chambers, and Ashley Chambers; great-grandchildren, Kye Sprouse, Colin Chambers, Braden Chambers, and Sutton Lindsey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Leonard Hamilton; and his daughter-in-law, Lacy Bearden.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18, at 10:00AM, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville.

In lieu of flowers, consider donating to Hill Country Youth Ranch or Peterson Hospice in Kerrville who provided tender care over the last couple of years. Special thanks to Charlene and Janice.
