Luther W. Bearden

Luther W. Bearden, 83, of Iva, beloved husband of Joann Hulett Bearden, peacefully passed away at his home on October 8, 2025. Born in Elberton, GA, he was the son of the late J.C. and Ella Mae Bowman Bearden.

Mr. Bearden dedicated 25 years to his work at the Burlington Plant in Calhoun Falls, later retiring from the Pilgrim Pride Food Processing Plant in Elberton, GA. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, often finding joy in activities such as mowing the lawn and engaging in hands-on projects.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mitchell Bearden and Vernon Bearden.

Surviving Mr. Bearden is his wife, Joann of 56 years of the home; two daughters, Valerie Rogers (Mitchell) of Iva, SC and Velvet Bearden of Calhoun Falls, SC; two brothers, Eugene Bearden (Ruth) of Elberton, GA and Joe Bearden (Rose Anna) of Elberton, GA; two grandchildren, Ashley Waters (Brandon) and Christopher Rogers; two great-grandchildren, Lizzie and Lillie.

The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the Lowndesville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Funeral services will begin in the church on Saturday at 2:30PM with Rev. Scotty Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
