Charles R. Shipman, 74, of Iva, SC, husband of Dorothy Franklin Shipman, died Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Anmed Medical Center in Anderson. He was born in Transylvania County, NC to Mable Galloway Shipman and the late Newton Shipman.
A graduate of Blue Ridge Community College, Charles pursued a fulfilling career as a machinist retiring from Brisco, Inc. – Laser Cutting in Swannanoa, NC. In his leisure time, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life - fishing and hunting. He also took pleasure in working on lawnmowers, a hobby that reflected his mechanical skills. Charles worshipped at Asaville Baptist Church in Anderson.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Shipman and sister, Sherlene Pace.
Charles is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dorothy; mother, Mable Galloway Shipman of Brevard, NC; son William Douglas Corn of Mills River, NC; daughter, Angela Darlene Shipman of Etowah, NC; two brothers, Howard (Boryana) Shipman of Tavernier, FL and Fred Shipman of Rosman, NC; two sisters, Patricia (Bud) Wilson of Campobello, SC and Sandra (Doug) Miller of Granite Falls, NC; brother-in-law, David Pace of Edneyville, NC; three grandchildren, Callie Diane Shipman Johnson, Michael Austin Neal and Cassie Ann Neal; and three great-grandchildren, Kenna Camp, Zayden Barrett and Emerson Barrett.
The family will receive friends 5:00PM – 6:00PM, Friday, May 16, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home, 302 N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC 29620. Graveside services will be 2:00PM, Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery, 56 Mt. Gilead Church Road, Mills River, NC 28759 with Pastor Mike Goforth and Pastor DeWayne Evans officiating.
The family is at the home.
