Robert Sloan Fossett, 72, of Abbeville, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at Magnolia Manor in Greenwood, SC. He was born in Abbeville to the late Lyman J. ‘Bo’ Fossett, Sr. and Evelyn Cochran Fossett.
A proud graduate of Abbeville High School, class of 1972, Robert was a lifelong devoted member of Abbeville Presbyterian Church. He spent many years working at Hardees and later retired from McDonald's in Abbeville. Robert was a passionate fan of the Abbeville Panthers and the Clemson Tigers. He was Past President of the Abbeville Lion’s Club where he had been a member for over 30 years. His love for his hometown of Abbeville was evident, as he cherished the connections he made while visiting local grocery stores and various churches in the community.
Robert's passion for Abbeville was truly remarkable; he loved capturing memories through photographs and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him for his kindness and the special moments he shared with his community, whether it was in passing in the local grocery store, visiting local churches or cheering on those Abbeville Panthers.
Robert is survived by his brother, Lyman J. Fossett, Jr., and his nephew, Matthew J. Fossett, both of Greenwood.
Lyman and Matthew express their heartfelt gratitude to the community of Abbeville for the love and care shown to Robert throughout his life. They extend particular thanks to his neighbors, the Lindley family, Dr. Robert Todd, Janet Vandiver, Remele Johnson, and many others who were a part of his life.
