Alvin Adams Jr 90 of Eolia passed away peacefully Friday, September 19, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Alvin, who went by the name "Junior," was born December 10,1934, in Creve Coeur, Missouri, to Alvin and Adele (Thomassen) Adams. Junior was united in marriage to Rosie Lee Adams on June 19, 1954, at Star Hope Baptist Church in Elsberry, MO. To this marriage were born Larry Eugene, Kathryn Marie, Karen Lee, and Penny Lou. Junior and Rosie raised their children on the farm and instilled their strong work ethic and love for the land in them. Junior loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Farming was his passion and he loved his life as a farmer.
At age 7, Junior and his family moved to Whiteside, where his former schoolhouse now serves as a location for family gatherings. His family began a truck farming business and by age 15, Junior was making trips to St. Louis delivering asparagus and strawberries.
In Junior's early adult years, he worked at the glove factory in Elsberry, the heel factory in Troy, and the Ford Motor Plant in Hazelwood. Along with farming, Junior would cut wood and did what he could to provide for his family.
Junior acquired his first farm in the early 60's and in 1967, Junior and Rosie moved the family to Eolia where he continued to grow his acreage. He began his trucking business in the late 1970s and in 1981 he and his son Larry established Eolia Fertilizer. Junior was particularly fond of his cows, which he fed daily in the winter months. He continued to farm into his 90's and leaves a legacy.
Some of his favorite pastimes were pulling his antique tractors and, in his later years, showing off his 1934 Ford Roadster at car shows and going to the "boat," which, of course, was the casino.

Junior is survived by his children, Larry (Cynthia) Adams of Silex, Kathy (the late Lilburn) Gregory of Bowling Green, Karen (Robert) Omohundro of Clarksville and Penny Adams of Columbia; grandchildren, Carrieann (Jason) Smith, Angie Adams, Joshua Adams (Kenzie ), Jacob Adams, Jaclyn Adams, Brooke (Luke) Colbert, Bryce (Kristi) Gregory, Bridgette (Patrick) Reuther, Breanne (Alex) Clawson, Dane (Kaylee) Omohundro, Jill (Nathan) Granneman, Deaven (Dean) Streed, Morgan (Jeff) Keener and Marissa Kraus; great-grandchildren, Kendall Smith, Jemma Adams, Brantley Orf, Bennett, Ava, Oliver and Charlotte Colbert, Adelyn, Carter, Kennon and William Gregory, Andrew, Aubrey, and Asa Reuther, Elliott and Evelyn Clawson, Kade and Kamryn Omohundro, Landon, Mason, Maddox and Chandler Granneman, Blayke, Kacen and Daxton Streed, Jackson, Addison and Logan Keener; Sisters, Brother-in-laws, Robert and Laverne Wright, Ben and Melba Houston, Paul Krieg, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rosie, parents Alvin and Adele Adams Sr, sister Nadine Krieg, in-laws Homer and Nellie Reed, and son-in-law, Lilburn Gregory.

He will be sadly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
